Study Design and Measure Development consultations

I can help with

  • Different study design options that suit your budget
  • Timelines, human resource and logistics requirements of different study designs
  • Ways to enhance the internal validity of your study
  • Valid and reliable ways to measure your key variables, including choice of measurement instruments & development of new measures 

I provide consultations to ensure that:

  • Survey items align with study goals
  • Pilot testing leads to improvements to data collection tools
  • Rigorous translation of surveys (if applicable)
  • You achieve good response rates
  • Your data analysis plan is scientifically sound 
  • Your data tells a story that is compelling

For service options 1 & 2 consultations typically require 1.5-2 hours of your time and between 5-10 hours of my time.

  • 1 hour of document review (my time) before our meeting
  • 30 minute conversation with you about where you are at and what you need help with
  • 2-5 hours of my time to develop recommendations and identify resources, depending on the complexity of the project

  • Explain authorship requirements & open access policies including open data access
  • Advise on how many rounds of revision are needed before your manuscript is ready for submission
  • Edit your manuscript(s) for scientific accuracy and clarity
  • Ensure you have followed reporting guidelines
  • Help you write for the readership of the journal you plan to submit to

For service option 3, I recommend an initial 30-60 minute conversation with you about where you are at and what you need help with. I will then provide a cost estimate for the work you need me to do.

Rates

  • Initial consultation via phone or zoom (up to 30 minutes): No charge
  • 1-20 hours: CAN $ 150 per hour
  • > 20 hours: CAN $ 135 per hour
  • 5% GST (Tax) is added to each invoice.
